Zeiss reports revenue increase in first 9 months of fiscal year
Carl Zeiss Meditec reported a 6.7% increase in revenue in the first 9 months of its fiscal year, according to a press release.
Revenue totaled €798.6 million. Earnings before interest and taxes totaled €110.5 million, up from €89.5 million in the same period a year ago. Earnings per share were 0.83, up from 0.64 the previous year.
Revenue in the Ophthalmic Systems unit totaled €304.9 million, an increase of 7.5% over the €283.5 million total reported in the same period the previous year. Revenue in the Surgical Ophthalmology unit totaled €280.8 million, an 8.6% increase compared with €258.5 million in the same period a year earlier. Microsurgery revenue increased 3% to €212.8 million.
Revenue in the Asia-Pacific region totaled €278.7 million, an increase of 20.3% over €231.6 million the previous year. The increase in the Asia-Pacific region was mainly attributed to China, Southeast Asia and South Korea. Totals remained stable in the Japanese market.
In the Americas region, revenue totaled €257.3 million, an increase of 0.9% from €255.2 million a year earlier. Revenue in the Europe/Middle East/Africa region increased 0.2% to €262.5 million.
