“It is our pleasure to present the Crystal Apple Award to an outstanding physician and ASRS member who has really gone to great lengths to advance the education and professional development of ASRS members in the young physician section,” Choudhry said.

Jampol, the Louis Feinberg, MD, professor of ophthalmology at Northwestern University, has trained many respected leaders currently in the field, Hau said.

“He has not only just educated his own students, residents and fellows, but he has educated all of us, especially in the areas of white dot syndromes, and has contributed to changing the way we understand and treat diabetic retinopathy as the chair of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network. His contributions to the field have been immense,” Hau said. by Robert Linnehan and Patricia Nale, ELS
