Robert E. Grant, founder of Alphaeon, will transition from his role as CEO to the role of vice chairman of the company’s board of directors, according to an Alphaeon press release.

The transition is expected to be completed by June 30.

Alphaeon chairman of the board William Link, PhD, told Healio.com that the board has formed a finance and operations subcommittee to work with senior management to provide ongoing governance and guidance, including during the CEO transition.

“Robert’s transition out of the CEO role for Alphaeon has been planned for quite a bit of time,” Link said. “Robert and the board felt like now was an appropriate time to transition so he can focus more of his attention on the Strathspey Crown holdings activity, and we can thoughtfully recruit in a new leader who could be fully dedicated to Alphaeon.”

Grant said his new role will enable him to concentrate on his duties as chairman of Strathspey Crown Holdings, the majority shareholder of Alphaeon.

“I remain highly dedicated to the company and our outstanding board and management team and remain committed to the vision of Alphaeon to build the first social commerce company focused in lifestyle health care,” Grant said in the release.

“I continue to be very encouraged at the promise and potential within Alphaeon, the special affiliation with physicians and the self-pay channel are beginning to add real value, so I am optimistic about near-term and long-term prospects for Alphaeon,” Link said.

For the new CEO, Link said, “We are seeking a seasoned, inspiring, experienced leader who really knows the ophthalmic, aesthetics and dermatology spaces, and who can help us lead and scale the business.”
