Scientific program committee

In line with the theme of “Discovery, Innovation and Practice,” the Scientific Program of the 32nd APAO Congress will focus on a variety of topics, including new treatments for major eye diseases and novel imaging and surgical techniques. The Scientific Program Committee comprises leading experts in ophthalmology and visual sciences from around the world. Highlights of the intensive 3.5-day program will be the two plenary sessions and the Opening Ceremony on the afternoon of March 2 and three symposiums organized by ICO and the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis. ICO glaucoma guidelines

ICO has announced the release of ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care. The guidelines summarize core requirements to care for patients with open- and-closed angle glaucoma. We expect they will have relevance to ophthalmologists around the world as they provide guidance on the management of glaucoma in both low- and intermediate- to high-resource settings.

The ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care are currently available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Turkish, Hindi, Russian, Arabic and Portuguese, and can be downloaded at www.icoph.org/glaucoma, where more details can be found. Additional translations and adaptations are encouraged.

These guidelines are based on internationally recommended standards of care. They are useful for resident and fellow training programs, and can be used by ICO members to improve patient outcomes.
