Zeiss receives CE mark for PLEX Elite 9000 swept-source OCT system

SEATTLE — The Zeiss PLEX Elite 9000, a novel swept-source optical coherence tomography platform, has received CE mark approval in the European Union, Carl Zeiss Meditec announced in a press release.
By providing fast, dense, wide and deep OCT and OCT angiography imaging, the platform “expands researchers’ ability to examine the critical retinal microstructures and microvasculature of the eye at any depth of interest (eg, vitreous, retina and choroid),” according to the release.
The PLEX Elite 9000 system is the centerpiece of the Advanced Retina Imaging network being introduced at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting.
“The Advanced Retinal Imaging Network is a platform to understand swept-source OCT,” Angelo Rago, senior vice president of innovation and operations said to reporters at a press event here. “The intent is to allow researchers to drive innovation with Zeiss supporting the researchers.”
