OptiMedica expanded the international market adoption of its Catalys Precision Laser System at the Shinagawa LASIK Center in Tokyo and Santa Maria Eye Clinic in Sakaide, Kagawa, Japan, according to a press release from the company.

The Catalys system is for customized cataract procedures and is available in 20 centers across seven countries.

“We chose Catalys at Shinagawa because we are confident that it is the best femtosecond laser cataract system available,” Minoru Tomita, MD, leading refractive surgeon at Shinagawa LASIK Center, said in the release. “At our clinic, over 80% of the patients are choosing laser cataract surgery and are willing to pay the additional costs for the option.”
