Bausch + Lomb Technolas has been granted a CE mark in the European Union for the Victus femtosecond laser platform for creating corneal incisions in patients undergoing cataract surgery, according to a company news release.

The platform also was granted CE approval for penetrating keratoplasty and creating intrastromal channel incisions for intracorneal ring segments.

The device now has regulatory approval in Europe for capsulotomy, lens fragmentation and corneal incisions in laser-assisted cataract surgery, the release said. It also has CE approval for creation of flaps, arcuate corneal incisions and the IntraCor procedure.

The Victus platform first earned a CE mark in November 2011, followed by clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July 2012.
