Second Sight reports 163% increase in total revenue in 2015

Second Sight reported $8.9 million in total revenue in 2015, a 163% increase from $3.4 million reported in 2014, according to a press release.

The increase was attributed to a higher number of Argus II retinal prostheses implanted in 2015.

Net loss was reported at $20 million, or $0.56 per share, compared with $35.2 million, or $1.41 per share, in 2014.

Total cost of operating expenses was reported at $23.7 million in 2015 compared with $21.1 million in 2014.

The increase was attributed to additional investments in the business and clinical and regulatory expenses related to the launch of the company’s dry age-related macular degeneration trial in the United Kingdom.
