Korea and Argentina have granted regulatory approvals to STAAR Surgical to market its Visian Implantable Collamer Lens with CentraFLOW, according to a company news release.

STAAR’s proprietary CentraFLOW technology is designed to improve the flow of fluid within the eye, the release said. It is also meant to allow for an easier procedure by removing the need for a YAG peripheral iridotomy several days before the Visian ICL is implanted.

The approvals on the device extend from 0.5 D to 18 D on the myopic range and from +0.5 cylinder power to +6 for the toric ICL models, according to the release.

A launch symposium is planned for July 27 in Korea to train approximately 100 surgeons on how to use the new technology.
