STAAR reports $18.8 million in net sales in third quarter
STAAR Surgical reported $18.8 million in net sales in the third quarter compared to $18.2 million reported in the same quarter in 2014, the company announced in a press release.
The overall 3% sales increase was attributed to higher ICL unit sales in each region – 37% in Europe, Middle East and Africa, 13% in Asia Pacific and 10% in North America – offset by a 24% decrease in worldwide IOL revenue and foreign currency changes, according to the release.
Operating expenses were reported at $14.8 million, a 10% increase compared to $13.4 million reported in the same quarter of 2014. The increase was due to a bonus accrual reversal of $1.6 million in the prior year period.
Adjusted net loss was reported at $40,000, or breakeven on a per share basis, compared to $87,000, or breakeven per diluted share, for the same period in 2014.
