CenterVue will launch the Compass fundus automated perimetry system in the U.S. in September, the company announced in a press release.

The Compass system provides standard 24-2 visual field results and true color confocal images of the retina. Real-time retinal tracking can be acquired at the rate of 25 images per second and enables monitoring of eye movements during visual field testing with corresponding compensation before stimulus projection, the release said.

Furthermore, automatic refraction compensation means there is no need for a trial lens correction during testing.

The Compass system recently received 510(k) premarket approval for marketing from the FDA, the release said.
