International Biomedical Devices raises $2 million in first round seed funding
International Biomedical Devices raised $2 million at the closing of its initial seed funding round for development of its non-laser-based precision capsulotomy technology, according to a company news release.
Funding will be used for development and preclinical studies of the ApertureRx Precision Capsulotomy System, which uses thermal energy and is intended to be used for intraoperative capsulotomy construction during cataract surgery.
Mark Packer, MD, who joined the company as chief medical officer in June, said in an earlier press release: “ApertureRx is a simple, elegant, low cost solution for constructing a perfectly round, predictable capsulotomy.”
