Second Sight revenue increases 335% in second quarter

Second Sight Medical Products reported total revenue of $2.7 million in the second quarter, a 335% increase compared with $611,000 in the same quarter of 2014.

The increase in revenue was attributed to a higher number of implanted Argus II retinal prostheses in the second quarter, according to a press release.

Net loss was reported at $4.9 million, or $0.14 per share, in the second quarter compared with a net loss of $7.5 million, or $0.32 per share, in the same quarter of 2014.

Total operating expenses were reported at $6 million in the second quarter compared with $5.2 million the same quarter of 2014. The increase reflected a higher investment in sales and marketing, as well as costs associated with being a publicly traded company.
