Carl Zeiss Meditec reported a 17.1% growth in Surgical Ophthalmology revenue in the first 6 months of its fiscal year, according to a press release.

The Surgical Ophthalmology strategic business unit revenue was €173 million compared with €147.8 million in the first 6 months of the previous year.

The Ophthalmic Systems strategic business unit increased its revenue by 8.8% to €183.2 million compared with 168.4 million in the first 6 months a year ago.

The company had an 8% increase in total revenue to €498 million, up from €460.9 million in the previous year.

Adjusted for currency trends, growth was 3.7%.

Earnings before interest and taxes totaled €61 million compared with €63.7 million in the first 6 months of the previous year.
