Ophthalmic Women Leaders honors 2015 award winners

SAN DIEGO — Ophthalmic Women Leaders honored the winners of its annual Visionary Woman, Catalyst and Rising Star awards during a reception at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.

Erin Schallhorn was awarded the Rising Star Award as an emerging leader in the ophthalmic space. Schallhorn is the executive vice president of the Fundingsland Group, where she assesses global clinical and surgical opinions and practice patterns within ophthalmic societies and industry programs.

Laurie K. Brown, COMT, COE, OSA, OCS, CPSS, was honored with the Catalyst Award for demonstrating leadership in supporting the advancement of women. She is the practice administrator for Drs. Fine, Hoffman and Sims and also works in surgical assisting and oversight of FDA core studies of ophthalmic technologies.

Audrey Talley-Rostov, MD, was honored with the Visionary Woman Award for paving the way for other women in her field through significant professional achievement. She is a cornea, cataract and refractive surgeon as well as partner at Northwest Eye Surgeons. Talley-Rostov was the first surgeon to perform and teach femtosecond laser keratoplasty in New Delhi.
