Laser-assisted cataract surgery to be broadcast live from Zlin Ophthalmology Festival
Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery with implantation of recent designs of premium IOLs will be broadcast live via the Internet from the Zlin Ophthalmology Festival 2015 on Friday, March 20.
Live surgery sessions from the Gemini Eye Clinic in Zlin, Czech Republic, from the Ospedale Maggiore in Verona, Italy, and from the Nordblick Augenzentrum in Kiel, Germany, will focus on laser-assisted cataract surgery with the Victus (Bausch + Lomb) and LensAR platforms.
Pioneer and key leaders in the femtosecond laser approach, congress director Pavel Stodulka, MD, PhD, and international guest Detlef Holland, MD, will demonstrate those operations from the Czech Republic and Germany, respectively. Roberto Bellucci, MD, will perform surgery from a private facility CEMS in Verona.
Recent innovations in premium IOL models, largely inspired by the evolution of femtosecond laser technology, will be implanted. These include the new Femtis Laser Lens (Oculentis), the Incise Microincision IOL (Bausch + Lomb), the EyeCee One (Chroma-Pharma) and the toric trifocal FineVision IOL (PhysIOL).
Other procedures, such as LASIK Xtra and pattern multispot laser retinal photocoagulation, will be presented by Stodulka and Pavel Cejka, MD, respectively.
Previous editions of this forum have been a success, Stodulka said.
"This year, the Zlin Ophthalmology Festival expects over 600 participants from the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland and Greece. This event focuses on case reports and live surgeries, and the audience will vote the best presentation," he said.
