CEDARS Debates is a monthly feature in Ocular Surgery News. CEDARS — Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery Society — is a group of cornea, cataract and refractive surgery specialists, here to discuss some of the latest hot topics in ophthalmology.

As the price of perioperative eye drops continues to rise and the push toward generic drops grows, surgeons are faced with a battle to ensure that their patients obtain the medications needed to enhance surgical outcomes. They also need to ensure that patients actually comply with their postoperative regimen. Patients now struggle with the ever-rising prices of these medications and often are unable to obtain the drops the surgeon suggests. Recently, there has been an emergence of injectable medications to allow dropless cataract surgery. This month, Dr. Keith Walter and CEDARS guest Dr. Alice Epitropoulos discuss the benefits of dropless cataract surgery. We hope you enjoy this discussion.
