Zeiss revenue increases slightly for year

Carl Zeiss Meditec announced a 3% increase in revenue over the past year, taking into account gains and losses among its business units, according to a company press release.

Revenue increased €906 million to €909 million for the year, with company earnings before taxes of €120.7 million, according to the release.

The Surgical Ophthalmology business unit increased its revenue by 20.3% to €146 million, whereas the Ophthalmic Systems business unit’s revenue decreased by 4.6%, ending the year at approximately €373 million, according to the release.

Even though the Microsurgery business unit garnered €390 million in revenue compared with last year’s €394, when adjusted for currency effects, the revenue would equate to a 2.2% growth, according to the release.

The company seeks to increase its revenue with new products, including the IOL CT Lucia, the IOL Master 700 and the OPMI Lumera 700 Rescan, according to the release.
