CHICAGO — Applied Genetic Technologies Corp. was awarded with the Innovator Award here at the Ophthalmology Innovation Summit, ahead of the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting.

The clinical-stage biotechnology company has developed adeno-associated virus-based gene therapies for X-linked retinoschisis, achromatopsia and X-linked retinitis pigmentosa.

Susan Washer, president and CEO of AGTC, and William W. Hauswirth, PhD, co-founder, were presented with the award. Nicholas Muzyczka, PhD, co-founder, also awarded, was not in attendance.
