CHICAGO — Heidelberg Engineering introduced the launch of its OCT2 here at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.

The next-generation module is available as an option for the Spectralis diagnostic imaging product family, according to a Heidelberg press release. Additionally, all systems purchased with the Advanced Upgrade Package or the MultiColor module are able to be upgraded to the upgraded to the OCT2 module.

The OCT2 module has a 70 kHz A-scan rate, in addition to Heidelberg’s proprietary TruTrack high-speed active eye tracking, for improved image quality, according to the release.

The upgradable platform extends the life and function of the equipment, Jörg Pintaske, PhD, strategic marketing manager at Heidelberg Engineering, said in the release.
