Trulign toric IOL now available in extended power range
CHICAGO — Bausch + Lomb announced that its Trulign toric IOL is now available in an expanded power range, according to a company press release.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the toric IOL in May 2013, when its mid-range powers were between 17 D and 25 D. The expansion now includes powers from 10 D to 16.5 D (in half-diopter steps).
The lens is indicated for primary implantation in the capsular bag for the visual correction of aphakia and postoperative refractive astigmatism, secondary to cataract removal in adult patients with or without presbyopia, according to the press release.
The IOL is the only toric IOL in the U.S. that corrects for astigmatism and has the potential for additional capacity to improve vision, according to the release.
An expansion to powers from 25.5 D to 33 D are expected later this year.
