Nicox has announced the launch of Xailin Gel in Europe, according to a company press release.

Upon making contact with the eye, a substance released by the preservative in the multidose carbomer gel lubricant is converted to water and oxygen by ocular enzymes, making it “preservative-free in the eye,” according to the press release.

Xailin Gel’s launch follows the early 2014 launch of dry eye lubricants, Xailin Night and Xailin Fresh.

Additional ocular lubricants are expected to be launched as part of the Xailin line by the end of this year, according to the release.
