LONDON — Quantel Medical announced that two disposable product lines will be launched at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting here.
The new products include Vitra laser probes and a series of disposable, single-use diagnostic and therapeutic lenses, according to a press release from the company.
Two new Vitra designs were introduced: a flexible-tip laser probe and a steerable laser probe. Both designs are compatible with Quantel’s Supra and Vitra multispot laser photocoagulation platforms for the treatment of retinal diseases. The steerable probe is designed to improve access to the retina, whereas the flexible probe features a flexible needle with a memory shape effect, according to the release.
The disposable, single-use diagnostic and therapeutic lenses feature large, flat mirrors designed to improve the surgeon’s field of view. The lenses are packaged in a sterile pouch and can be discarded after one use to reduce the risk of infection, according to the release.
“The two new product introductions reflect Quantel’s commitment to bring innovative new technologies to market that address the needs of our customers and their patients,” Jean-Marc Gendre, CEO of Quantel Medical, said in the release. “We are excited to bring these new product breakthroughs to the eye care community on a global level.”
The new products are being showcased at the ESCRS congress and will be featured at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in Chicago Oct. 18 to 21.
