Clearside granted fourth U.S. patent for microneedle drug delivery methods, devices

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted a fourth patent to Clearside Biomedical for its proprietary microneedle drug delivery methods and devices, according to a Clearside press release.

The patent, “Methods and Devices for Drug Delivery to Ocular Tissue Using Microneedle,” provides exclusivity for the administration of any drug to a patient’s eye by inserting a hollow microneedle into the eye and infusing the drug into the suprachoroidal space.

This is the fourth patent exclusively licensed to Clearside based on its collaboration with the Georgia Tech Research Corporation and Emory University, according to the press release.
