Alcon to acquire WaveTec Vision, full rights to ORA System
Alcon announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire WaveTec Vision, according to a company press release.
Upon completion of the acquisition, Alcon will gain full rights to the ORA System and plans to immediately begin integration of WaveTec into its surgical business franchise, according to the release.
The ORA System, which complements Alcon’s Verion image-guided preoperative diagnostic system, provides real-time guidance to cataract surgeons implanting IOLs, in addition to other measurements that confirm the surgeon’s lens selection and placement.
Alcon will incorporate the ORA System into its existing cataract refractive armamentarium, which includes Verion, the LenSx femtosecond laser, the Centurion phacoemulsification system and the LUXOR LX3 microscope, according to the release.
The transaction is subject to closing conditions, which includes anti-trust approval.
