TrueVision secures U.S. patent for astigmatism procedure
TrueVision 3D Surgical has been issued a patent by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for its computer-guided surgery system for limbal and corneal relaxing incisions during astigmatism-correcting procedures.
The system is designed to provide real-time, multidimensional visualizations of target surgical fields with adjustable, positional accuracy and real-time, virtual surgical reference indications that are automatically positioned to make up for motion during the procedure, according to a press release.
Using preoperative data and imaging techniques, the system can calculate specific incision locations to better target refractive outcomes for individuals. The system also has the capability to integrate with surgical microscopes and/or the use of cataract and corneal surgical lasers, and display 3-D and 2-D field views simultaneously, according to the release.
