Lensar and TrueVision 3D Surgical have completed a global co-development and distribution agreement that combines TrueVision’s TrueGuide system and the Lensar laser system, Lensar announced in a news release.

The combined system is on display at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.

“Surgeons using the Lensar laser system with our proprietary Augmented Reality image and guidance will now have the added benefit of TrueVision’s overlay and nomogram, which will be incorporated seamlessly into Lensar’s efficient surgical suite,” Nick Curtis, Lensar CEO, said in the release.

The Lensar laser system, a femtosecond platform used in cataract surgery, offers imaging, measurement and 3-D modeling. Cataract surgeons have reported that the laser has improved safety profiles and reduced total phacoemulsification time and energy, the release said.

The Lensar laser system is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for anterior capsulotomy, lens fragmentation, and corneal and arcuate incisions.
