BrightFocus announces over $8.7 million in research grants

BrightFocus Foundation has announced it will be offering over $8.7 million in research grants to funding cures of the mind and sight, according to a press release.

The $8.7 million includes $3.5 million dedicated to research projects on macular degeneration or glaucoma, spanning topics of cellular therapies, genetic research and testing of new treatments, the release said.

“BrightFocus strives to identify and support the most promising, early-stage research. We fund some of the best ideas within the scientific community, with grants vetted by the world’s top scientists in the field,” Stacy Pagos Haller, president and CEO of BrightFocus, said in the release.
