Carl Zeiss Meditec has launched a new surgical microscope, the OPMI Lumera 700, with integrated Rescan 700 intraoperative optical coherence tomography technology and Callisto eye, according to a press release.

The microscope reportedly allows surgeons to see transparent structures of the eye during surgery, as well as monitor progress of a procedure and verify clinical results in the operating room, according to the release.

The Rescan 700 and Callisto eye provide surgeons with the necessary structural information known from preoperative OCT scans, as well as continuous OCT scanning during surgery. OCT scans can also be stored and recalled for later review and “fly through” via Callisto eye, the release said.
