SalutarisMD begins enrollment in wet AMD study
Salutaris Medical Devices has begun enrollment in a sponsored observational study to advance the research and development of a novel medical device for use in the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration, according to a company press release.
The study, to be conducted at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, "will use three imaging modalities to determine the depth from the retrobulbar episcleral surface to the vitreous side of the sclera, choroid and retina at the center of the fovea and choroidal neovascularization," according to the release.
The device employs a minimally invasive retrobulbar episcleral brachytherapy application to the neovascular membranes, and appropriate delivery of radiation dose depends on the distance between the episcleral surface and the choroidal lesion, according to the release.
