Forus completes Series B funding for portable screening device
Forus Health Pvt. Ltd. has completed a round of Series B funding of $8.2 million to develop 3nethra, a portable eye screening device, according to a company press release.
The round was led by Asian Healthcare Fund, but was also supported by existing investors, Accel Partners and IDG Ventures India, while Unitus Capital acted as sole advisor to Forus for the transaction, the release said.
Screening with 3nethra can be done quickly, in less than 5 minutes, by persons with minimal training, according to the release. Furthermore, the device can be used in remote areas and the company’s telemedicine application Foruscare can be used to transfer data.
According to the release, the device is in use at 220 sites in 14 countries, and approximately 600,000 eyes have been screened thus far.
