The Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services has published a permanent Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System code for Jetrea, which will be effective January 2014, according to a press release from ThromboGenics.
The permanent J-code is J7316.
The absence of a code for Jetrea (ocriplasmin) led to delays in reimbursement and inefficiencies in financial working capital at a retina practice management level, the release said. The code should streamline the reimbursement process for retina practices and instill higher confidence about reimbursement.
“We are confident that automation of the reimbursement process will be an important facilitator in this novel product’s uptake as U.S. physicians will now be reimbursed for Jetrea in a timelier and more efficient manner,” Patrik De Haes, MD, CEO of ThromboGenics, said in the release.
