Alphaeon acquired a license from Visiometrics to market the HD Analyzer in the United States, according to a news release.

The technology is designed to gauge light scatter inside the eye and provide early detection of the existence of a cataract, the release said. In addition, the Optical Scatter Index helps to track cataract progression and objectively measures what a patient sees.

Alphaeon will begin commercializing the device in January. The amount for the license was not disclosed.
