AMSTERDAM — Abbott Medical Optics initiated the European launch of two new lens powers into the Tecnis Multifocal family – a +2.75 option and a +3.25 option, the company announced in a press release here.

For patients who prefer intermediate vision activities, the 2.75 add power is suitable; for patients who prefer longer range vision, the 3.25 add power is suitable, according to the release.

“[T]he surface of these multifocal IOLs allows the patient to maintain good vision in low light conditions, equally distributing light at both near and distant focal points,” the release said.

Abbott Senior Vice President of Medical Optics Murthy Simhambhatla said in the release, “The launch of these new Tecnis Multifocal lenses in Europe further enhances our robust portfolio of premium IOL offerings for cataract patients who desire visual acuity at a variety of distances."
