Visian ICL with CentraFLOW approved for marketing in India
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization of India has granted marketing approval to STAAR Surgical for its Visian Implantable Collamer Lens with CentraFLOW technology, according to a company news release.
CentraFLOW is designed to improve the flow of fluid within the eye via a port in the lens, the release said. It eliminates the need for the surgeon to perform a YAG peripheral iridotomy several days before the lens is implanted, resulting in greater convenience a comfort for the patient and less demand on the surgeon’s time.
For myopia, the Visian ICL with CentraFLOW is approved for –0.5 D to –18 D. For the toric ICL models, cylinder power ranges from +0.5 D to +6 D, according to the release.
The device was approved in Korea and Argentina this year. Nearly 25,000 have been implanted in Europe.
