Revenue up 2.9% in first 9 months of fiscal year for Carl Zeiss Meditec
Carl Zeiss Meditec reported revenue of €649.1 million in the first 9 months of the fiscal year, up 2.9% from €630.8 million in the same period of the previous year, according to a company news release.
For the year, the company is expecting sales to total between €880 million and €910 million, the release said, although a lower gross margin is possible due to competitive pressure in ophthalmology and lower growth rates in microsurgery.
Carl Zeiss Meditec reported a marginal increase in its ophthalmic systems strategic business unit to €266.8 million across the first 9 months of the fiscal year, up from €266.3 million last year. The surgical ophthalmology unit increased 16.2% to €92.7 million, from €79.8 million, while microsurgery increased 1.7%, from €284.7 million to €289.5 million.
Revenues grew at just under 3% in all three business regions — Asia/Pacific, Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa.
