Carl Zeiss Meditec reported revenue of €442 million in the first 6 months of the fiscal year, up 3% from €431.8 million in the same period of the previous year, according to a company news release.

Revenue for the ophthalmic systems strategic business unit fell by about 5% from the same period a year ago, from €184.8 million to €176 million, the release said.

Sales for the surgical ophthalmology unit, meanwhile, increased 16% to €60 million from €51.9 million. Sales for the microsurgery strategic business unit increased about 6% to €207 million from €195.1 million.

Carl Zeiss Meditec noted the decline in ophthalmic systems revenue makes it uncertain whether the company can meet its goal of at least equaling market growth by the end of the financial year.
