FDA clears microperimetry as part of Optos OCT SLO
Optos has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to include microperimetry as part of its OCT SLO device, according to a company news release.
With the clearance, the device is the only one on the market to offer structural optical coherence tomography and functional microperimetry testing, the release said.
Microperimetry testing will allow physicians to better assess retinal sensitivity, which can help determine the association between structural pathology and related visual functional defects, according to the release.
The microperimetry test is designed to run concurrently with a high-speed confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope to deliver real-time tracking of retinal vessels.
