Abbott launches Healon Duet Dual Pack

Abbott has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to combine its Healon and Healon EndoCoat ophthalmic viscosurgical devices within a single package, according to a company news release.

The Healon Duet Dual Pack combines the Healon (sodium hyaluronate 1%) cohesive and Healon EndoCoat (sodium hyaluronate 3%) dispersive formulas in separate sterile trays for use in cataract extraction and IOL implantation.

High-viscosity Healon OVD is designed to maintain space in the posterior chamber while increasing clarity, while Healon EndoCoat OVD is injected into the patient’s eye to protect and coat it during surgical procedures to increase clarity and reduce trauma, according to the release.
