Primary-angle closure glaucoma patients may experience a small increase in IOP after visual field testing, according to a study.

The retrospective review included 109 right eyes of 109 patients. Visual field testing was performed on all eyes, and IOP was measured within 30 minutes of testing.

The IOP obtained after visual field testing was compared with the patient’s IOP from the previous visit and subsequent visits without visual field testing.

After visual field testing, the average IOP was 14.9 mm Hg, which was higher than both the previous visit (13.7 mm Hg, P < .001) and next visits (13.8 mm Hg, P < .001) without visual field testing.

Eyes that were medically treated had a higher IOP elevation than eyes that were surgically treated (P = .009).
