CHICAGO – Bausch + Lomb announced plans to acquire Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH, a leading ophthalmic laser manufacturer, the company announced in a news release.

B + L has exercised an option to purchase all outstanding and unowned shares of Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH. The acquisition is scheduled to be finalized at the end of January 2013, the release said.

“Our acquisition of Technolas Perfect Vision represents an important milestone for Bauch + Lomb, but perhaps more importantly, for cataract and refractive patients worldwide,” Brent Saunders, B + L president and CEO, said in the release. “The Technolas Vision team has built a great company and from my perspective, the most innovative.” 

In the last 12 months, the Victus platform received marketing approval from regulatory agencies in Europe and the United States; the companies are applying for approval in other regions as they prepare for the launch.
