Bausch + Lomb introduced the enVista toric, its first hydrophobic acrylic IOL, during the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting in Milan.

The IOL is designed to provide predictable astigmatism correction via a single-piece modified-C haptic design, which improves rotational stability, according to a press release.

“The rotational stability of a toric IOL is critical to providing the best possible outcome for a patient. If the lens rotates, a patient’s vision will become suboptimal,” Luis Cadarso, MD, said in the release. “In my experience, the new enVista toric is very stable.”

Stability is further enhanced by the IOL’s 56° contact angle, the release said.

The lens received CE mark approval in Europe in April. It is not approved for sale in the United States.
