MILAN — Carl Zeiss Meditec introduced here Presbyond laser blended vision, a new laser treatment for high-quality vision at all distances in presbyopia patients.

According to a press release from the company presented at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Presbyond uses a true binocular method instead of conventional monovision to achieve good intermediate visual acuity with little loss in contrast sensitivity.

"With Presbyond, we are enabling refractive surgeons to expand their spectrum of offerings and therefore increase the number of patients they are treating. The method is a clear treatment choice for the fast-growing demographic of presbyopic patients," Ludwin Monz, MD, president and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec, said in the release.

Presbyond is available as an option for the CRS-Master. The CRS-Master treatment planning station and MEL 80 excimer laser can treat myopic and hyperopic presbyopia with or without astigmatism, as well as emmetropic presbyopia.
