Alcon has acquired Endure Medical Systems, makers of advanced technology surgical microscopes, according to a news release.

Alcon announced that it will immediately begin marketing Endure Medical Systems’ LuxOR line of ophthalmic surgical microscopes as part of Alcon’s cataract surgery portfolio in the United States, followed by a phased roll-out to global markets in 2013.

“The Endure Medical Systems full-line of ophthalmic microscopes enhances our cataract surgery portfolio, offering an innovative solution for surgeons to further improve cataract surgery outcomes,” Stuart Raetzman, head of global commercial strategy for Alcon, said in the release. “Cataract surgeons will appreciate the depth of perception and detail that these ophthalmic surgical microscopes with a unique illumination technology provide.”
