CHINO HILLS, Calif. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the commercial distribution in the United States of two models of clear, foldable hydrophobic acrylic-optic aspheric IOLs, Hoya Surgical Optics announced in a press release.

The approval covers the iSymm IOL model FC-60AD and the preloaded iSert IOL model PC-60AD, the release said.

Both IOLs had been released to the market but voluntarily recalled by Hoya in June 2011. At the time, the FDA had not approved the lens models, so Hoya recalled them in order to submit additional data to obtain approval.
