DUBLIN, Calif. — A non-mydriatic fundus camera for retinal imaging has been granted U.S. regulatory approval, according to the device’s marketer.

The Carl Zeiss Meditec Visucam Pro NM is designed to allow practitioners to capture high-resolution, digital images of the retina and posterior segment of the eye through pupils as small as 3.3 mm in diameter, according to a press release from Zeiss. The camera also captures high-resolution images at 30· and 45· field angles to allow early documentation of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma, according to the press release.

The Visucam Pro NM is an all-in-one unit without the need for external wires or peripheral cameras, according to the release.
