World Ophthalmology Congress names OSN as publisher of its congress daily

The Board of the World Ophthalmology Congress has named Ocular Surgery News the publisher of its WOC 2008 daily newspaper.

woc2008The World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC) will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre June 28 to July 2, 2008. The international conference will bring together ophthalmology experts from 28 different specialties and subspecialties.

Congress president and organizing committee chairman Dennis S.C. Lam, MD, will oversee all programs.

"In this exciting era of medical and technological breakthroughs, we have witnessed a number of great advancements in the field over the past decade. We must keep abreast of these latest developments in order to serve our patients at the best level," Dr. Lam said in a message on the congress' Web site.

"WOC is going to be the premier event of the year in ophthalmology. We are pleased to be the organization that will keep the world informed as WOC approaches and to report the important news that it generates," said John C. Carter, chief operating officer of SLACK Incorporated, publisher of Ocular Surgery News.

The WOC 2008 newspaper will be published each day of the congress.

Additionally, honorary congress presidents include Bruce E. Spivey, MD, president of the International Council of Ophthalmology, Yasuo Tano, MD, president of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, and Jia-liang Zhao, MD, immediate past president of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society.
