ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — WaveTec Vision has named Thomas G. Frinzi as president and CEO, the company announced in a press release.

Over his 30-year career in the ophthalmic and medical device industries, Mr. Frinzi has held positions with Johnson & Johnson, Chiron Vision and Iolab, as well as executive roles with Refractec and Bausch + Lomb.

Most recently, Mr. Frinzi served as vice president of global commercial operations for Bausch + Lomb Surgical, where he helped to generate approximately $500 million in revenue stemming from cataract and vitreoretinal product sales.

"What attracted me to WaveTec is the potential to change the landscape of cataract surgery," Mr. Frinzi said in the release. "What cornea topography was to refractive surgery, ORange [intraoperative wavefront aberrometer] can be to cataract surgery. ...

WaveTec is uniquely positioned to help surgeons optimize their outcomes and ultimately improve the overall patient experience. That's exciting."

Mr. Frinzi replaces sitting president and CEO Tom Berryman.
