Visx gains support for own board

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Visx gained support for its own nominated board of directors from Institutional Shareholder Services, which also issued a statement against Carl Icahn’s board nominee.

A news release issued by Visx indicated ISS found no compelling evidence to support Mr. Icahn’s choice of board nominees, a relatively young and inexperienced person, Visx quoted ISS as noting.

“We believe Carl Icahn’s 30-year-old employee-nominee, Keith Meister, does not have the industry knowledge or business experience to adequately represent the interests of Visx stockholders as a board member,” said Liz Davilla, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Visx.
