Visx first quarter revenues jump 27%
SANTA CLARA, Calif. Visx increased its first quarter revenues by 27% over the same period a year ago, to $43.8 million, the company announced in a press release. Net income increased 115% to $11.8 million compared to the year-ago period.
License revenue increased 65% from the first quarter of 2003, driven by higher sales of Visxs new CustomVue procedure and strong demand for laser vision correction, the company said in its release. Laser vision correction procedure volume grew 20% from the year-ago volume, and CustomVue procedures accounted for 34% of the companys total procedure volume, the release said.
As a result of its first quarter earnings, Visx is revising its volume percentage growth up to the mid-teens for the year and a CustomVue conversion percentage in the high 30s, the company said in its release.
